Useful answers for common ATC training questions.
I signed up for ATC training some time ago but I haven’t heard back yet.
You can monitor your current placement status in real time through our Training System. While your request is listed as In queue, our team is aware of your application. Once a mentor slot becomes available, your status will change to Pre-training, and you will be enrolled in the Hellenic vACC Moodle platform to begin the required self-study phase. Always monitor your primary VATSIM-registered email address for updates.
How long is the training waitlist queue?
Wait times vary depending on the number of active volunteer mentors, the number of students currently in line, and the type of training required. In high-demand periods, the wait time can exceed 6 months. We highly appreciate your patience while our staff handles ongoing training tracks.
I applied weeks before someone I know, but they got a mentor before me. Why?
Instructor assignment is not handled strictly by application date. Training requests may be filtered based on your current network rating, the type of training track required, mentor authorizations, refresher needs, language availability, and active instructor capacity.
I completed my Moodle exams. Will I get a mentor immediately?
Please note that completing the Moodle exams does not guarantee that a mentor will be assigned immediately or on the next day. Mentor assignment depends on staff availability and may take some time. Once you have completed the initial theory exams through Moodle, the Control Center will assign a staff instructor to your profile when one becomes available.
I passed my checkout mentoring, but I haven’t received a rating upgrade email.
Global VATSIM database synchronization servers can take up to 72 hours to fully process and apply standard rating changes. If your account remains unchanged after 72 hours, please email [email protected] and include your VATSIM ID.
Can I apply for air traffic control training if I do not speak Greek?
Yes, you are welcome to apply. However, if you select English-only training during your initial application, please expect longer wait times due to the limited number of certified English-authorized mentoring staff.
